Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program
What is the Alzheimer Respite Care Program (ARCP)?
A special Alzheimer’s Respite Program allows those who care for a loved one to have some time out of the home, secure in the knowledge that the person they have left is in very good hands. The mission of the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program is to ease the burden and enhance quality of life for the family
member caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease.
By training and matching volunteers who provide relief in the form of socialization, transportation, education and emotional support, family caregivers get the break they need.
Bilingual staff and volunteers are available.
How do volunteers help?
Volunteers spend 2 -3 hours each week with families to offer companionship for both the individual with Alzheimer ’ s disease and/or the family caregiver. The individual with Alzheimer’s disease looks forward to the visits with a new friend.
What volunteers do not do?
Volunteers are not medically trained and therefore do no toileting, bathing or dispensing of medications.
How much does it cost?
All services provided by ARCP volunteers are free. Our program is funded through the generosity of the Ocean County Office of
Senior Services, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants and private donations. All contributions are tax deductible.
There are many opportunities available for You to join us.
