St. Peter's, Point Pleasant Beach joins Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey

St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Point Pleasant Beach has expanded their ministry to the elderly and joined the Interfaith Coalition of Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ).  As a coalition member, St. Peter’s joins 62 other congregations in Ocean County, with volunteers giving few minutes or an hour or two a month helping the elderly in the community to remain independent in their own homes.

Volunteers provide rides to doctor’s appointments, do food shopping, make a friendly visit or phone call, all for free, out of the generosity of their hearts.  Volunteers also provide relief for families who are themselves caregivers for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

“We are very excited to welcome St. Peter’s into our coalition”, said Mary O. Malagiere, Manager of Volunteers for CVCJ.  “St. Peter’s has a wonderful ministry already and by working together I know we can help many more frail and elderly living right here in the Shore community.”

Saint Peter’s is also looking to identify the elderly in the Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach communities who may need the services offered through CVCJ.  If you need services or know a neighbor who could use some assistance, please call CVCJ at 732-505-2273.

In addition to participating in CVCJ, St. Peter’s also provides rides to Sunday services.  Parishioners needing transportation to Mass, should contact Joe Felber at 732-899-1906.

Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey is a non-profit interfaith agency whose mission is to assist the frail and homebound elderly with everyday tasks enabling them to remain independent in their own homes. All services provided are free.  Over 1000 volunteers assist more than 2000 seniors each month. For more information and to learn about volunteer opportunities, call Mary O. Malagiere, 732-505-2273 ext. 211 or visit www.caregivervolunteers.org
