High School Kids make some new friends and play bingo at an assisted-living home.
Toms River High School took a trip to the Haven at Silverwoods, an assisted-living facility, to make some new friends and play some bingo. The 15 and 16-year-old sophomore students had already received age-sensitivity training and were there with their English teacher Mary Downing.
The excursion was part of a program organized by the Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey. And fun was had by all. "It makes me feel good to do this," said Isabella, aged 16. And Kathleen, also 16, described the evening as "A lot of fun."
Linda Panarella, manager of Haven, said, "Once we got going and had a couple of games, the students took turns doing the bingo calling." After bingo, the kids dished out brownie sundaes.
Both the students and the residents of Haven had a great time, and all look forward to the next game of bingo.
